Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Cash, cards and mobile pay are all commonly accepted at larger chains; smaller specialty shops may be cash-preferred.

Houston is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Houston follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

If I lived near this place I would be there often! My 1st night in downtown I shopped here for some breakfast items while staying at a local hotel. Oh My Goodness! I bought a spinach & mushroom Quiche that was the best I have ever eaten. My husband agreed! The pastries...are too many to choose easily. Baklava of many varieties. Delicious! We had lunch here on our final day in town. Ate from the olive/salad bar & the deli where they will heat up the foods. Then, you can sit & enjoy at the tables in the foyer.

A great selection of fresh food and meals available here while staying in Houston. The salad bar had a plenty of choices and the ready made meals made lunch for a group easy - you can eat in the designated areas next to the grocery area or walk to Discovery Green and have a picnic.

I came here looking for kataifi to make Dubai-style chocolate chip cookies. Back when I lived in Chicago, I had easy access to grocery stores that carried Eastern European and Mediterranean ingredients, so I wasn't sure where to find it here. I didn't initially think of Phoenicia because the location I'm familiar with is all the way on the west side. Then my friend who lives at One Park Place said that Phoenicia is literally on the first floor of her building. I visited her and we did some shopping. I was happy to find the dry shredded dough on the second floor. I usually buy the frozen kind and cut it to the length I want, so it was great to see this as an option though more expensive! This location is much smaller than the one on the west side. I also checked out the bakery. It's nice and well-stocked, though I found the cakes to be on the pricey side. I picked up a couple mini 4-inch Christmas log cake for about $13, and it was extremely sweet--almost too sweet for my taste. Overall, the location is very convenient, with free parking, and they offer a solid selection of Mediterranean staples. I didn't try their hummus or baba ganoush this time, but I'd definitely consider it
